September is National Fall Prevention Awareness Month. Falls are a leading cause of injury, but they are not an inevitable part of aging. By staying as active as possible, making minor home modifications, and staying informed about fall prevention strategies, we can significantly reduce the fear of and risk of falling!
Every year in September, Lifespan’s health & wellness department hosts an event to raise awareness about fall prevention! This event features information and activities designed to help older adults prevent falls. Registration is not required, but recommended! Click the button below to register.
The event is free and lunch is provided!
Activities and short presentations include:
Healthy eating & hydration with samples, Urban Soul Line Dancing with Lady P at 10:00 am, balance assessments, how to get up from a fall demonstration at 11 am, Tai chi demonstration at 11:30 am, personal emergency response systems, massage therapy, wellness wheel with give-a-ways, flu vaccinations, blood pressure checks.
