No matter what your age, you can become a Lifespan volunteer.
Give a caregiver a break by Providing Respite
Respite volunteers give caregivers of people with early dementia needed breaks to take time for themselves or run errands. This is a flexible position, and we’ll try to match you geographically.
Help older adults prevent devastating falls.
Train to become a "Matter of Balance" coach. You just need good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and a willingness to lead small group workshops. A "Matter of Balance" is proven to help older adults manage concerns about falling. Coaches 55 and older are particularly needed. Read the description here. Advocate for older adults living in long-term care facilities.
Caring individuals are always needed to volunteer as Ombudsmen in area nursing and adult homes. Lifespan provides the training necessary to become a NYS Certified Ombudsman. We also provide ongoing support and education. To learn more, call Deb at 585-287-6378 or email email@example.com.
Help with financial management tasks.
Visit with an older adult once a month to help with bill paying/check writing, submitting insurance claims, balancing checkbook, etc. To learn more, call us at 585-244-8400.
Give someone a lift!
Volunteer drivers are needed to take older adults and people with disabilities to medical and other appointments. We provide training and partial mileage reimbursement (if you are 55 or older). To learn more, call Sr. Anne at 585-287-6442 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
Take the confusion out of Medicare.
Help with Medicare information and guidance by training to become a health insurance specialist. Your volunteer commitment is flexible, and we provide the necessary training and ongoing support. To learn more, call Charmel at 585-287-6413 .
Help someone live healthier!
Become a peer leader for our Living Healthy workshops. You'll be trained to help other older adults learn to take charge of chronic conditions like arthritis, high blood pressure and chronic pain. Volunteering through RSVP
If you are 55 or older you can put your experience to work. RSVP, Lifespan’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will show you how you can apply the skills and wisdom you’ve acquired throughout your life to make a positive impact on the lives of others. You can provide help where it is needed most! You choose how and where you want to serve, how much time you want to give and whether you want to share skills you have or develop new ones. We will match you to opportunities such as:
Supporting Lifespan’s many services that help older adults and caregivers take on the challenges and opportunities of longer life
Assisting with Veteran-to-Veteran initiatives and providing support to military families.
Participating in inter-generational programs.
Contributing to preparedness planning and disaster assistance efforts in our community.
