The Empowered Aging Forum is designed to provide older adults, caregivers, and families with the knowledge and tools needed to plan confidently for the future. This year's forum focuses on legal and other planning topics that support informed aging and long-term care decisions.

SCHEDULE:
8:30 – 9 am: Registration
9 – 10:15 am: Foundations of Legal & Financial Planning, presented by Miles Zatkowsky, JD
Planning ahead can provide peace of mind and help ensure your wishes are honored. This workshop offers an overview of key legal documents and decisions that support healthy aging, including powers of attorney, health care proxies, MOLST forms, wills, and trusts. Attendees will learn the purpose of each document, how they work together, and important considerations for protecting their health, finances, and future plans.

10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Medicaid Planning for Long-Term Care, presented by Jeremy Sedelmeyer, JD
Understanding how to prepare for the potential costs of long-term care is an important part of aging well. This workshop provides an overview of Medicaid eligibility, asset protection strategies, and the planning options available to individuals and families facing long-term care needs. Attendees will learn about common misconceptions, key application considerations, and how proactive planning can help preserve financial resources while accessing needed care.
