Give a caregiver some free time by providing respite

Some caregivers don’t get the down time they need to take a worry-free walk, visit a friend or go to the store. Our respite volunteers give caregivers some free time and also benefit people with early stage memory loss through conversation, companionship and engaging activities. We’ll train you, match you and provide ongoing support. Flexible! You set your own schedule. Needed in multiple counties. Call us at 585-244-8400 ext.192 or email volunteerflci@lifespanrochester.org

Volunteering through AmeriCorps Seniors
Bringing out the best in America

Make giving back your second act. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers bring their unique skillsets and experiences to help American people and communities thrive. If you are 55 or older you can put your experience to work. We can show you how you can apply the skills and wisdom you’ve acquired throughout your life to make a positive impact on the lives of others. You choose how and where you want to serve, how much time you want to give and whether you want to share skills you have or develop new ones.

In Monroe or Livingston counties, we will match you to opportunities such as:

  • Supporting Lifespan’s services that help older adults and caregivers take on the challenges and opportunities of longer life

  • Assisting with Veteran-to-Veteran initiatives and providing support to military families.

  • Participating in inter-generational programs.

  • Contributing to preparedness planning and disaster assistance efforts in our community.

  • Other opportunities to make giving back your second act.

The choices are limitless. For a personal introduction to AmeriCorps Seniors contact Julie Cunningham at jcunningham@lifespanrochester.org.
