Volunteer Opportunities at Lifespan!
No matter what your age, you can become a Lifespan volunteer.
Help older adults prevent devastating falls. Train to become a "Matter of Balance" coach. You just need good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and a willingness to lead small group workshops. A "Matter of Balance" is proven to help older adults manage concerns about falling. Coaches 55 and older are particularly needed. Call Katherine at 287-6439 to learn more!
Make a new friend! Think how a phone call or a visit can brighten your day. Lifespan and the University of Rochester are connecting volunteers age 55 and older with older adults who could benefit from having a friend. This flexible volunteer opportunity requires at least two phone calls and two in-person visits a month. We provide training, partial mileage reimbursement and support from staff. Call Katie at 287-6352 for more information about The Senior Connection.
Caring individuals are always needed to volunteer as Ombudsmen in area nursing and adult homes. Training and ongoing guidance is provided!
Visit with an older adult once a month to help with bill paying/check writing, submitting insurance claims, balancing checkbooks. This is our Financial Management program.
Give someone a lift! Volunteer drivers are always needed to take older adults and people with disabilities to medical and other appointments. We provide training and partial mileage reimbursement (if you are 55 or older). Call Sr. Anne at 244-8400, ext. 142 for more information about Give-a-Lift.
Are you good with facts and figures? Lifespan's Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) (clink on the link) provides the opportunity to learn about Medicare and health insurance options for older adults. Your volunteer commitment is flexible, and we provide training and ongoing support.
