Lifespan's Eldercare Services
Substance Abuse Treatment for Older Adults
The current estimate is that approximately 23,000 of Monroe County's older adults (60+) suffer from some form of substance misuse. We seek to help those who cannot or will not access traditional treatment and those who have tried traditional treatment and failed.
Lifespan's Geriatric Addiction Program is a one-of-a-kind service providing in-home intervention, assessment and care management and counseling for older adults who abuse alcohol and/or prescription drugs.

Partially funded by a grant from the Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation.
"I am writing on behalf of my two sisters and my brother to thank you for all you have done for my mother. We had spent months trying to find the right kind of treatment for my mother. She was 74, a recent widow, and a heavy social drinker. In grief and in loneliness, she had begun drinking all day. You talked with my mother, earned her trust, and helped her believe in herself again. After much work, we have our mother back again. I don't know what you can offer back to someone who returns your lost parent to you. Thank you."
Susan, a daughter.
