Elder Abuse Prevention Services

It is estimated that 1 in 20 older adults is a victim of some type of elder abuse. Elder abuse includes physical, emotional or financial mistreatment of an older adult. It is a crime that thrives in silence. Elder abuse exists in every neighborhood. Adult children and grandchildren are all too often the abusers.

Lifespan launched an Elder Abuse Prevention Service in 1986 in response to this growing problem. We provide services in Monroe and ten other counties in the Finger Lakes area, including Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Schuyler, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates.

The program's director, Art Mason, C.S.W., is a nationally recognized expert in prevention and intervention strategies.
